My worst hiking experiences tend to involve organized hiking groups. Usually, the agenda is, "let's just get to the summit and get it over with."
Worst of all was the one that wouldn't even let me step aside to urinate, because I would have set foot off the trail. I couldn't enjoy the view from the summit, or my lunch, because of the discomfort of holding it. But I still had a trick or two: there was a point where we had a rock scramble, and someone had installed a rope to assist. The guide said we could hold onto the rope, but not use it to hold our weight, because he didn't know its condition. I made a point of saying to the group, "there's no point in having equipment you don't trust," and then made sure he saw me do the whole rock scramble without so much as touching the rope in any way.
My intent was to show him I wasn't the total incompetent he was treating us as. It must have worked, because on the way back down from the summit, he finally let me step off the trail to urinate, and then catch up with the group.
There are reasons I tend to hike solo.
