we're off to see the lizard! Hiking is a great way to get close to some interesting parts of the world. In some places, hiking is the only way to get around. It is good exercise, too. I once attempted to walk across NiuGini, but had to turn back when confronted with a flooded river that I could not cross. Nearer home, I helped establish a walking trail that crosses several hundred kilometers of Ontario. Hiking is a very social activity. A buddy system is good when in remote areas. But several buddies are even better.
